Lead Civil Engineer – Water & Wastewater

This is an opportunity to lead, grow, and build something new within a long-established consultancy that has been delivering iconic projects across Queensland and NSW for decades.
As the Lead Civil Engineer, you’ll establish and grow a new water business unit within a respected multi-disciplinary team, backed by internal referrals and strong cross-functional collaboration. You’ll have the autonomy to shape your own team, drive project excellence, and create enduring value for the communities you serve.
What You’ll Deliver
- Technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Oversight of feasibility, design, and delivery phases for pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants, and associated civil infrastructure.
- Delivery of network modelling and analysis, supporting network planning, optimisation, and detailed design.
- Use and oversight of modelling tools such as InfoWater, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, MIKE URBAN, and Synergi Water to assess asset capacity, system performance, and growth impacts.
- Mentoring and development of emerging engineers while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
- Client engagement and project delivery for local and state government clients, ensuring technical excellence and commercial outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (essential).
- RPEQ registration or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in water and wastewater infrastructure, ideally within consulting or design environments.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and network modelling, with hands-on experience in one or more major platforms such as WaterGEMS, InfoWater, MIKE URBAN, Synergi Water, or similar.
- Knowledge of the local QLD market is essential for this client-facing role.
- Demonstrated success leading projects, teams, and client relationships across local government and utility sectors.
- Deep understanding of industry standards, design codes, and regulatory frameworks.
- A proactive, collaborative mindset with a focus on building capability and delivering sustainable outcomes.
