Senior Civil Engineer
Darwin, NT
Apply for this job

Lead projects. Build teams. Shape a region.

Darwin isn’t for everyone.

But for the right engineer, it’s where careers accelerate.

If you’ve moved beyond just delivering design and are now thinking about leading people, owning outcomes, and influencing clients, this is where that step becomes real.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of civil infrastructure and land development projects, leading both the technical delivery and the people behind it.

This is not a back-seat design role.

You will:

  • Lead the design and documentation of roads, subdivisions, drainage, hydraulics, and earthworks
  • Manage projects end-to-end  scope, budget, delivery, and client outcomes
  • Provide technical oversight to ensure designs meet project and regulatory requirements
  • Lead and coach engineers and designers within the team
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Contribute to the commercial success of projects through efficient, on-time delivery

The Company

A well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy delivering high-quality engineering and project management services across both public and private sector clients.

Their work spans:

  • Urban and regional land development
  • Civil infrastructure projects
  • Housing and subdivision developments

You’ll be joining a team that values delivery, accountability, and outcomes, not layers of unnecessary process.

What You Bring

This role suits someone who is already operating at or ready to step into senior leadership within project delivery.

You will ideally have:

  • A Civil Engineering degree (recognised by Engineers Australia)
  • Approximately 10–20 years’ experience in civil engineering
  • Strong technical capability across:
  • Roads and transport infrastructure
  • Subdivisions and land development
  • Drainage and hydraulics
  • Earthworks design
  • Experience with Austroads and relevant Australian standards
  • Strong capability in geometric design and modelling
  • Proven ability to:
  • Lead teams and mentor engineers
  • Build and manage client relationships
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Excellent communication skills and a practical, delivery-focused mindset

What You Actually Get (Beyond Salary)

Most firms talk about flexibility.

Very few build their business around it.

Here’s what this looks like:

Lifestyle & Wellbeing

  • Flexible Friday policy
  • Annual return airfares
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Parental leave
  • A genuine focus on work-life balance
  • Relocation expenses covered

Career Growth (Not Just a Title Change)

This is a role designed to move you forward, not keep you where you are.

You’ll have access to:

  • A diverse pipeline of projects and clients
  • The ability to shape your role around your strengths
  • Mentoring into next-level leadership capability
  • Real project management ownership
  • Continuous development in technical, commercial, and strategic thinking
  • Exposure to evolving technology and innovation in design and delivery

Why Darwin?

Because the people who move here don’t just take jobs  they change trajectory.

  • Greater responsibility, faster
  • Real influence on projects and outcomes
  • A lifestyle most capital cities can’t offer

If you’re already operating at this level, or know you’re ready to step into it  let’s have a conversation.

If you’re waiting for the “perfect role” to show up… this is usually where people get left behind.
