Civil engineering should solve more than a design brief. On water and wastewater projects, it must make constrained sites work, connect disciplines, support construction and help essential assets operate safely for the long term. This role gives you the chance to own that outcome across treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, reservoirs and related infrastructure.
We're partnering with our client, an established Australian engineering consultancy specialising in water and wastewater infrastructure. They are seeking an independently productive Civil Engineer who can deliver practical civil design while coordinating the interfaces around process, mechanical and structural infrastructure.
Cairns is the immediate priority, with genuine opportunities also available across the Sunshine Coast, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Gold Coast.
The Opportunity
You will contribute across the project lifecycle, from options and concept development through detailed design, documentation and delivery support.
The role will see you involved across:
• Civil design for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, reservoirs and network assets
• Site layout, earthworks, grading, drainage, access and buried-services coordination
• Design calculations, technical reports, specifications and construction documentation
• Concept, tender, detailed and for-construction design packages
• Coordination with process, mechanical, structural, hydraulic and drafting disciplines
• Design reviews, constructability input and technical support during construction
You'll have the opportunity to take genuine ownership of design packages while learning from specialists who understand how water infrastructure performs in the field.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in speaking with civil engineers who enjoy multidisciplinary infrastructure work and can convert site constraints into practical design solutions.
You'll likely bring:
• Approximately 5 to 12 years of relevant civil engineering experience
• Experience in water, wastewater, utilities, industrial, mining or comparable infrastructure
• Capability across civil design calculations, technical reporting and documentation
• A practical understanding of constructability, staging and multidisciplinary interfaces
• Clear communication and the confidence to work with technical and project stakeholders
Technical Experience
Experience across some or all of the following will be highly regarded:
• Treatment-plant civil works, pump stations, pipelines, reservoirs and network infrastructure
• Earthworks, site grading, drainage, access roads and buried services
• AutoCAD Civil 3D and coordinated 3D design workflows
• Construction support, site inspections and resolution of design queries
Qualifications
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
• CPEng, RPEQ or equivalent professional registration is highly regarded, but not essential
