Water & Wastewater | Multidisciplinary Engineering | Project Delivery | Commercial Ownership

Brisbane / Gold Coast, QLD

Good Project Managers keep projects moving.

Great Project Managers understand the engineering, the construction, the commercial position and the client outcome at the same time.

Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering contractor delivering complex electrical, mechanical and associated infrastructure projects across the water, wastewater and industrial sectors.

They are looking for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of projects from planning and mobilisation through construction, commissioning and final handover.

The Opportunity

You will manage multidisciplinary projects involving engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, construction and commissioning.

Projects may include water and wastewater treatment infrastructure, pump stations, mechanical plant, electrical systems, switchboards, controls, upgrades and works within live operational environments.

You will take responsibility for:

  • Managing projects from award through delivery, commissioning and close-out
  • Developing project delivery plans, programmes and resource requirements
  • Managing project budgets, forecasting, variations and commercial performance
  • Coordinating engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction activities
  • Managing subcontractors, suppliers and specialist vendors
  • Working closely with Construction Managers, Project Engineers, supervisors and trades
  • Monitoring safety, quality, programme, risk and project performance
  • Managing client relationships and project stakeholder communication
  • Identifying project risks and resolving delivery issues
  • Coordinating testing, commissioning and handover requirements
  • Maintaining accurate project reporting and documentation
  • Supporting continuous improvement across project delivery systems and processes

What We’re Looking For

We’re interested in speaking with Project Managers who have delivered technically complex infrastructure or engineering projects.

You will likely bring:

  • Demonstrated project management experience within engineering, infrastructure, water, utilities or industrial projects
  • Strong commercial understanding across budgets, forecasts, variations and contracts
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams
  • Strong planning and organisational capability
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and client relationships
  • An ability to understand technical issues without needing to be the technical specialist in every discipline
  • Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving capability
  • A relevant engineering, trade, construction or project management background

Experience across water and wastewater infrastructure, pump stations, treatment facilities, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, controls or brownfield upgrades will be highly regarded.

Why This Role Stands Out

You will be joining a business capable of taking projects from engineering and design through fabrication, construction, installation and commissioning.

That creates an environment where Project Managers can genuinely influence the full project lifecycle rather than simply administer one part of it.

You will work alongside experienced technical and construction teams while taking genuine ownership of client outcomes and project performance.

If you’re looking for a Project Manager role where you can own delivery, solve technical and commercial problems and see the finished asset operating in the field, this is worth a confidential conversation.
