Water & Wastewater | Mechanical & Electrical | Project Delivery | Engineering Coordination

Brisbane / Gold Coast, QLD

Multiple positions available

This is the kind of Project Engineer role where you get close to the entire project lifecycle.

Engineering. Procurement. Construction. Commissioning. Handover.

Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering contractor delivering technically complex projects across the water, wastewater and broader infrastructure sectors.

With a growing project pipeline, they are looking for Project Engineers to support the delivery of projects across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and South East Queensland.

The Opportunity

Working alongside experienced Project Managers, engineers, supervisors and trades, you will help coordinate projects from engineering and procurement through construction and commissioning.

Projects may include water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, mechanical systems, electrical infrastructure, switchboards, controls, equipment upgrades and associated civil works.

Depending on your experience, your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects
  • Coordinating engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Managing technical queries, RFIs and engineering interfaces
  • Coordinating suppliers, subcontractors and equipment vendors
  • Preparing scopes of work and supporting procurement activities
  • Monitoring programme, cost, quality and project risks
  • Supporting site teams with engineering and technical issues
  • Preparing and maintaining ITPs, quality records and project documentation
  • Supporting testing and commissioning activities
  • Tracking project actions, deliverables and close-out requirements
  • Assisting with variations, progress claims and project reporting
  • Working with clients, consultants and internal delivery teams to resolve project issues

What We’re Looking For

This role will suit an engineer who enjoys seeing designs become operating infrastructure.

You will likely bring:

  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline
  • Project engineering experience within infrastructure, construction, utilities, manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Strong coordination and problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of project cost, programme, quality and safety requirements
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, supervisors, trades, suppliers and clients
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A practical approach to engineering and project delivery

Experience across water or wastewater treatment, pump stations, mechanical equipment, electrical infrastructure, controls, pipelines or commissioning will be highly regarded.

Applications from Project Engineers with transferable experience from industrial, manufacturing, resources or other process infrastructure environments may also be considered.

Why This Role Stands Out

This is not an engineering role where you only see one small part of the project.

You will gain exposure across engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning while working closely with experienced project delivery professionals.

For an engineer who wants to build genuine project delivery capability and develop toward Senior Project Engineer and Project Manager positions, the exposure is difficult to replicate in a purely design-based environment.

If you want to build infrastructure, solve real engineering problems and see the outcome of your work operating in the field, this is worth a confidential conversation.
