Water & Sewer Design Engineer (RPEQ)
Location: Brisbane, QLD
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $130,000 – $165,000 + Super (dependent on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a Brisbane-based Water & Sewer Design Engineer (RPEQ) to lead and deliver the design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across SEQ. This role will suit a technically strong engineer who enjoys taking ownership of design outcomes, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with Queensland standards and legislation.
You will play a key role in delivering safe, compliant, and constructible designs across greenfield and brownfield environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of water reticulation and sewer networks.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Undertake hydraulic modelling and capacity assessments.
- Ensure compliance with SEQ service authority standards and Queensland regulations.
- Provide RPEQ certification and sign-off where required.
- Liaise with clients, councils, utilities, and contractors.
- Mentor graduate and mid-level engineers.
- Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Current RPEQ registration (mandatory).
- 5+ years’ experience in water and sewer infrastructure design.
- Strong knowledge of SEQ standards (Unitywater, Urban Utilities, Logan, Redland etc.).
- Experience with Civil 3D and hydraulic modelling software (e.g., SewerGEMS, WaterGEMS, InfoDrainage, SWMM).
- Strong understanding of WSAA codes and Queensland legislation.
- Experience in design approval processes with local authorities.
