Civil Designer, Water & Wastewater
Civil 3D | Water Infrastructure | Staff Equity | $100k-$145k + super
Cairns preferred | Sunshine Coast | Melbourne | Brisbane | Sydney | Gold Coast
A good civil model does more than make the drawings look right.
It resolves levels, access, drainage, buried services and multidisciplinary clashes before those problems reach site.
This opportunity gives you real influence over that outcome across essential water and wastewater infrastructure.
We're partnering with our client, an established Australian engineering consultancy focused on water and wastewater projects across Australia.
They are seeking an independently productive Civil Designer who can develop coordinated 3D models and clear construction documentation for treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, reservoirs and related assets.
Cairns is the immediate priority, with genuine opportunities also available across the Sunshine Coast, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Gold Coast.
The Opportunity
You will work closely with civil engineers and the wider multidisciplinary team across concept, tender, detailed and construction design stages.
The role will see you involved across:
• 3D civil modelling and drafting for treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, reservoirs and network infrastructure
• Site layouts, earthworks, grading, drainage, access roads and buried-services coordination
• Pipeline alignments, long sections, profiles, details and construction drawing packages
• Coordination with process, mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical disciplines
• Model reviews, clash resolution and constructability improvements
• Maintaining drawing quality, document control and agreed design standards
You'll be expected to think beyond the drafting task, identify design issues early and help the team produce information that works in construction.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in speaking with civil designers who are confident working independently and enjoy solving the coordination problems that sit between disciplines.
You'll likely bring:
• Approximately 5 to 12 years of relevant civil design or drafting experience
• Strong AutoCAD capability, with Civil 3D experience highly regarded
• Experience producing coordinated models, plans, profiles, sections and detailed drawings
• The ability to interpret engineering sketches, calculations, surveys and design intent
• Experience in water, wastewater, utilities, industrial, mining or comparable infrastructure projects
Technical Experience
Experience across some or all of the following will be highly regarded:
• AutoCAD Civil 3D, Navisworks and coordinated 3D design workflows
• Treatment-plant layouts, earthworks, drainage, access and buried services
• Pipeline alignments, long sections and water or sewer network documentation
• Common data environments, model coordination and formal design review processes
Qualifications
• A relevant drafting, design or engineering qualification is highly regarded
• Equivalent capability developed through substantial industry experience will also be considered
Why This Role Stands Out
Our client values designers as technical contributors who influence quality, coordination and constructability.
You can expect:
• A specialist water and wastewater project environment
• Varied work across treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, reservoirs and networks
• A choice of six office locations, with Cairns the current priority
• A friendly, practical culture where good work is noticed
• A genuine opportunity to participate in staff share and equity ownership
• A base salary of $100k-$145k plus super, with scope above this range for exceptional specialist capability
